Airbnb is driving up rents and pricing locals out of their cities. Uber is why gridlock has increased. Marketplaces like Uber and Airbnb connect buyers and sellers. They are hailed as being a brilliant idea leading the way towards a gig economy and many people use them on a daily basis as a less expensive way to travel. This rant examines the negative impacts on society and how the system falls down when something goes wrong. Jamie shares her own personal Airbnb story of being kicked out on Christmas Day and charged double. Airbnb’s response took 30 days and they closed the case. There are marketplaces doing it right. Jamie shares her Hipcamp story as an example of what customer service should be.
